JR on Tour: Bringing the Atelier Closer to Watch Enthusiasts
Since 1954, Jean Rousseau has crafted fine watch straps and leather goods in its ateliers in Besançon, France.
With boutiques and points of sale in several of the world’s major capitals, the Maison has always upheld a strong conviction: craftsmanship should not remain behind the walls of the atelier but should go out to meet those who wear it.
JR On Tour was created to bring Jean Rousseau closer to its clients. Through appointments hosted by the Maison’s retailers and partners, dedicated events, and private meetings, the program offers the Jean Rousseau experience beyond its permanent locations.
The Artisan Nomade is at the heart of this approach. Training at Jean Rousseau’s headquarters ensures that every technique associated with the Maison is fully mastered. Every cut, stitch, and movement follows the same high standards of precision and craftsmanship as those applied every day in the ateliers.
What makes this role unique is its mobility and the direct relationship it creates with clients. At each stop of JR On Tour, the atelier is recreated wherever watch enthusiasts gather. A simple table is transformed into a dedicated space for bespoke creation.
The Artisan Nomade presents the hides and materials, explains the different construction options, and advises clients on thicknesses, linings, finishes, and buckle styles. The role goes far beyond a simple demonstration. Each project is carefully considered from both a technical and aesthetic perspective, shaped by dialogue and a clear understanding of the client’s needs.
Because a bespoke strap is about more than dimensions, the Artisan Nomade also guides clients through the stylistic choices, taking into account the watch, its proportions, how it will be worn, and the style and expectations of the person wearing it.
From alligator, crocodile, and calfskin to rubber, Alcantara®, and other technical materials, the Artisan Nomade has an in-depth knowledge of each material, including its properties, durability, appearance, feel, and how it changes over time.
This close connection goes beyond in-person meetings. Jean Rousseau also offers remote appointments, giving clients the opportunity to speak directly with an Artisan Nomade, wherever they are.
Through JR On Tour, Jean Rousseau continues to promote a more human approach to luxury. Bespoke service is more than a service: it is a conversation, a sharing of knowledge, and a personal experience. The atelier becomes mobile, expertise is shared, and French craftsmanship is brought to clients around the world.
